The Management and Support Staff of Nelson's Funeral Home sadly announce the death of Mr. Celester Jackson, 70, of Newark, NJ. formerly of Ridgeway, South Carolina.
Mr. Jackson departed his earthly life January 16, 2018 in Newark, NJ.
Funeral services for Mr. Jackson will be held Saturday, January 27, 2018, 1:00 p.m. at Mt. Pisgah Baptist Church, 2092 Longtown Road, Ridgeway, SC. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. Public viewing will be held Friday, January 26, 2018 from 2:00 until 7:00 p.m.
Mr. Celester Jackson was born in Ridgeway, SC on November 10, 1947 and he departed his earthly life on January 16, 2018. He was the son of the late Lemon Jackson and Bernice Lamar Jackson.
Celester attended the Public Schools of Fairfield County. After high school, he relocated to New Jersey where he worked as a Forklift Operator for Heinz Corporation for over 30 years. After retiring from Heinz, he was employed with J. Supor and Sons as a Yardsman for the next 20 years.
“Les”, as he was affectionately known enjoyed watching car races, football and spending time with close friends and family.
Celester is survived by his three children, DeWayne Simpson of Blythewood, SC, Leslie Ward and Celester Jackson both of Greenville, SC; six grandchildren, Brooklyn and Braylon Jackson of Greenville, SC, DeMarius and Braylen Simpson of Blythewood, SC, Marques and Keshawn Ward of Greenville, SC; seven siblings, Delaine (Mary Bernice), Maggie, Levarn, Harvey and Christopher Jackson of Ridgeway, SC, Joan Jackson Chapman of Blythewood, SC and Betty (Lloyd) Johnson of Camden, TN; and a host of nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins and other friends who will miss him dearly.
Celester was preceded in death by his wife, Hattie Mae Jackson.
