Clara B. Woodard

The Management and Support Staff of Nelson's Funeral Home sorrowfully announce the death of Mrs. Clara B. Woodard, 75, of 2586 Mood Harrison Road, Ridgeway, South Carolina.   Mrs. Woodard transitioned peacefully to her eternal home, Wednesday, June 10, 2015, at her residence surrounded by her family.

Funeral Services will be held Tuesday, June 16, 2015, 1:00 p.m. at Mt. Pisgah Baptist Church, 2092 Longtown Road, Ridgeway, South Carolina.   Interment will follow in the church cemetery. 

Mrs. Woodard's remains will be placed in the church one hour prior to the service for viewing on Tuesday, June 16, 2015.

Public viewing will be held Monday, June 15, 2015, 12:00 noon until 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home, 270 N. Dogwood Ave., Ridgeway, SC. 29180.  

Mrs. Clara Bell Woodard was born in Ridgeway South Carolina on December 18, 1939. She departed this earthly life on June 10, 2015 at her home. She was the daughter of the late Haskel and Gertrude B. Gibson.

She attended the public schools of Fairfield County. Clara was a dedicated member of Mt. Pisgah Baptist Church where she served on the Missionary Society and the Gospel Choir until her health began to decline.  Clara was a retiree of the Department of Juvenile Justice.  She enjoyed fishing, cooking, singing, and loving her grandkids.

Early in life, she met and married the late Odell Woodard, Sr. and they were blessed with four beautiful children.  They were married for 42 years.

Clara leaves to cherish warm and fond memories, four daughters, Odessa Davis of the home, Sandra (Rauf) Jones of Ridgeway, South Carolina, Gertrude Hutchinson, Jackie (Ira) Davis of Columbia, South Carolina; one son, Odell Woodard, Jr. of the home; fifteen grandchildren;  nine great-grandchildren; six sisters, Sylvester Thomas, Rosa (Joseph) Haigler, Mary (Morris) Moore, Vera (Rev. Curtis) Robertson, Diane Wilmore, and Amelia Gibson;  two brothers, Haskel Gibson and Sherman (Odessa) Gibson, all of Ridgeway, South Carolina; and a host of other relatives and friends.

Clara was preceded in death by two brothers, Lester Gibson and Herman Gibson; two sisters, Eloise Gibson and Loretta Gibson.
