The Management and Support Staff announce the death of Mr. Dan Elain Mobley, Jr., 74, of Winnsboro, South Carolina.
Mr.Mobley departed his earthly life on Friday, February 9, 2018, at Palmetto Health Richland, Columbia, South Carolina.
Funeral Services will be held Wednesday, February 14, 2018, 12:00 noon at New Hope A.M.E. Church, 141 New Hope Road; Winnsboro, South Carolina 29180. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.
The Rev. John G. Davis will officiate the service.
Public viewing will be held Tuesday, February 13, 2018, 2:00 p.m. until 6:30 p.m.
Mr. Dan Elain Mobley, Jr., affectionately known to many as “Lain”, transitioned from his earthly home to his heavenly home on Friday, February 9, 2018 at Palmetto Richland Hospice. He was born on January 27, 1944 to the late Mr. Dan Elain Mobley, Sr. and Mrs. Mildred Harris Mobley.
Dan was a 1962 graduate of McCrorey-Liston High School. After graduation, he was first employed at Superior Stone Company in Rion, SC. He retired from Michelin in Winnsboro, SC after 36 years of service as a Maintenance Supervisor.
Dan was a faithful member of New Hope African Methodist Episcopal Church. He served on the Board of Trustees and the Men’s Choir. He was also the grounds keeper and maintenance worker for the church. He served in this capacity until his health declined.
Dan married his high school sweetheart on July 13, 1963 and to this union two daughters were born – Elena and Alicia.
Dan enjoyed cooking for his family and fishing with his friends.
He leaves to cherish fond and loving memories his wife of 54 years, Shirley Martin Mobley; two daughters, Elena Mobley Seibles (Rodney, Sr. and Alicia Sherryetta Mobley; a special niece, reared as a daughter, Shawna Martin-Lyde (Vincent); five sisters, Loyvone Mobley Washington, Phyonicia Mobley Huff (Charlie), Gail J. Mobley Davis (Harrison), Felicia Mobley Roberson(Willie) and Betina R. Mobley; one brother, Leslie (Maggie) Mobley; one sister-in-law, Gladys Martin Herndon; three grandchildren that were very special to him, TaLesha Shanee Seibles, Walter Elain Seibles and Rodney A. Seibles, Jr.; a great niece that he considered a grandchild, Vinez A. Lyde; one uncle, Robert Washington; special friends, Albert Grier and Helen Grier; several nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. We will all miss him dearly.
In addition to his parents, Dan was preceded in death by two sisters, Janie Mobley McCants and Adell Mobley Chestnut; and one brother, VaShun Mobley.
