Mr. Fred Belton, 73, of 4821 Bellfield Road Ridgeway, South Carolina, died Tuesday, December 27, 2011.

Memorial Services will be held Friday, December 30, 2011, 1:00 p.m. at Nelson's Funeral Home Chapel, 270 N. Dogwood Avenue, Ridgeway, South Carolina 29130.

Fred was the oldest of three siblings and was born in Blythewood, South Carolina on January 19, 1938 to the late William “Bootee” and Annie B. Belton.  

Fred was baptized at White Oak Baptist Church #2, Ridgeway, South Carolina.  He was educated in the public schools of Richland County.  For many years, he was employed at Richtex Brick, Columbia, SC, and until his illness, he also worked for Ridgeway Gold Mine.

Fred was a loving husband and father.  He loved his community and enjoyed playing baseball, working on cars with the guys, telling jokes and little white lies with friends in the "Fred" store.  He was truly loved and will be missed.

Fred leaves to cherish precious memories and celebrate his home-going: a dedicated and loving wife of forty eight years, Lois Harris Belton; children, Valerie Belton, Linda (Glendale) Qualls, and Henry Addison; a special granddaughter, Ms. Felicia “Peach” Belton (reared in the home); grandchildren, Martell, Javonte, D’Angelo, Tremel and Trevor; four great grandchildren; siblings, Lucille and Robert Belton, (also reared in the home) Emma Burgess and Ernest Belton; aunts, Sallie Lee Farrow, Josephine Brown, and Daisey Belton, and uncle, George Robertson; sisters / brothers-in-law, nieces, nephews and other loving relatives and friends.
