Mr. Jamel Joshua Thomas was born September 12, 1980 to LaRay and Shirley Thomas in Youngstown, Ohio. The family later relocated to Ridgeway, South Carolina. God called his Angel home on Saturday, October 10, 2015.
Jamel, affectionately known to all as “JoJo”, was educated in the Fairfield County School System. JoJo loved going to church and he had a fondness for gospel music. His favorite gospel songs were, “He Saw the Best in Me” and “I Need Just a Little More Jesus.” He shared his infectious smile with everyone he came in contact with. JoJo loved his family dearly.
JoJo leaves to cherish the fondest of memories, his mother, Shirley Thomas and his maternal grandmother, Mrs. Kate Belton of the home; his father, LaRay Thomas of Youngstown, Ohio; four children, Jamel Joshua Thomas, Jr. and Lexus Mercedes Thomas of Ridgeway, South Carolina, Carrie Kesha Thomas and Alyahia Diane Thomas of Winnsboro, South Carolina.
He was a devoted son, grandson, and father. JoJo will continue to live in the memories of his aunt, Annette Gavins of Pennsylvania; his three uncles, Harry Lee Belton of Fairfield, NC, Joseph Belton of Columbus, Ohio and James Belton of Youngstown, Ohio; a beloved special friend, Cornelius “Smoot” Peay of Winnsboro, South Carolina; and a host of other relatives and friends.
JoJo was preceded in death by his grandfather, Harry Lee Belton.
