James E. Mattox, Jr.

The Management and Support Staff of Nelson's Funeral Home, LLC  sadly announce the  death of Mr. James E. Mattox, Jr. 74, of 337 Hood Road Ridgeway, South Carolina.  Mr. Mattox died Monday, October 19, 2015 at Palmetto Richland Hospital Columbia, South Carolina.  

Funeral Services will be held Thursday, October 22, 2015, 2:00 p.m. at Nelson's Funeral Home Chapel, 270 N. Dogwood Ave Ridgeway. 

Interment will follow in Aimwell Presbyterian Church Cemetery, Ridgeway, South Carolina.   

Visitation and public viewing  will be held from 1:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m. Thursday, October 22, 2015, one hour before the service at the funeral home.

Mr. James “Jimmy” Edward Mattox, Jr. died unexpectedly at Palmetto Health Richland Hospital in Columbia, SC at the age of 74.

Jimmy was born on December 14, 1940 in Winnsboro, SC to the late Laurie Mattox and James Edward Mattox.  He graduated from Ridgeway High School in 1959.  He married his high school sweetheart, Mary Frances Carter.  Jimmy began working for Merita American Bakeries as a Route Driver.

Jimmy is survived by his wife, Mary Carter Mattox; his two sons, James David (Peggy) Mattox and Lynn (Christy) Mattox; three grandchildren, Brandi (Tony) Bennett, Jennifer (Craig) Hall, and David Mattox; four great-grandchildren, Chelsea, Karlee, Joe and Anslee; one sister, Jeanette Richardson; one brother, Jackie D. Mattox.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Laurie Mattox and his father, James Edward Mattox, Sr.
