John G Banaghan

The Management and Support Staff of Nelson's Funeral Home sadly announce the death of Mr. John G. Banaghan, 69, of Columbia, South Carolina.

John Gerald Banaghan, 69, of Columbia, South Carolina passed away peacefully on Wednesday, August 3, 2016 at Palmetto Health Richland Hospital in Columbia, South Carolina.  He is survived by his children John J. Banaghan, Brighid McCoy and Elizabeth Bladow; two sisters, Eileen Rega and Brenda Bannon; three grandchildren,  Henry and Drew Banaghan and Ella McCoy;  nieces, nephews and other loving relatives and friends. 

He was born in England to the late John and Mary N. Banaghan.  John moved to the United States as a young boy. He loved to travel and read. He was an art enthusiast and avid college sports fan. In his later years, he enjoyed solving crossword puzzles, Sudoku and Jeopardy.
