Larry Leroy Scott

The Management and Support Staff of Nelson's Funeral Home, LLC  sadly announce the death of Mr. Larry Leroy Lyles Scott, 65, of Columbia, South Carolina. 

Mr. Scott departed his earthly life Monday, January 25, 2016.

Funeral services for Mr. Scott will be held Friday, January 29, 2016, 10:00 a.m. at Nelson's Funeral Home Chapel, 270 N. Dogwood Avenue, Ridgeway, SC 29130.   Interment will follow in the Fort Jackson National Cemetery at 12:00 Noon.  Public viewing will be Thursday, January 28, 2016 from 2:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m.

Mr. Larry Leroy Lyles Scott was born on July 2, 1950 in Elgin, South Carolina to the late Annie Mae Lyles Nelson and Grover Lyles.  He departed this earthly life on January 25, 2016 at Palmetto Health Richland Hospital in Columbia, South Carolina.

Larry attended the Public Schools of Kershaw County.  After graduating from high school, Larry served in the United States Army.   While serving in the United States Army, Larry was awarded The National Defense Service Medal.  Larry was a member of James Chapel AME Church in Lugoff, SC. 

He leaves to cherish fond memories one daughter, Ginna Scott Tejada; one stepdaughter, Youlanda Frierson; one stepson, Robert Frierson; four grandchildren, Breona Holland, Alana Tejada, Marley Tejada and Emerald Scott; his stepfather, Willie James Nelson; six sisters, Joyce Tucker, Cassandra (Terry) Fuller,  Mary (Al) Duncan, Janet (Sylvester) Outten, Frances Vaughn and Nora Gray; four brothers, Clarence Lyles, Floyd Lyles Nelson, James Nelson and Wallie James Nelson; three special aunts, Della Lyles Hudson, Frances Lyles Mitchell and Fannie Belton; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts, uncles and many other loving relatives and caring friends all of whom will miss him dearly. 

Larry was preceded in death by Roberta Elerby, Willie Mae Harris and Grover Lyles, Jr.
