The Management and Support Staff of Nelson's Funeral Home, LLC announce the death of Mrs. Lois O'Neal Boyd of Winnsboro, South Carolina.

Mrs. Boyd departed her life Monday, August  7, 2017.

Funeral Service will be held Saturday, August 12, 2017, 3:30 p.m. at St. Barnabas Episcopal Church, 1056 St. Barnabas Road Jenkinsville; Jenkinsville, South Carolina.

Interment will follow in the church cemetery.

Lois O'Neal Boyd was born on April 22, 1922 in Jenkinsville, South Carolina. She was the daughter and last surviving child of the late Clarence O'Neal and Bertha Murphy O'Neal. She died on Monday, August 7, 2017 at the home of her daughter Doris.

Lois met and married Herbert Boyd, Sr. and to this union four sons and two daughters were born. He preceded her in death on February 22, 1991.

Lois received her early academic education at Camp Liberty school in Jenkinsville, SC. She and her daughter, Jacquelyn graduated from high school together on the same day in 1967 from McCorey Liston. She was proud of that because this was the first time that ever occurred at the school. She taught art classes and was a painter as well as doing craft work. She enjoyed buying molds of animals and statues and painting them. She would be up all-night working word puzzles and she was still doing them until about one month ago. Many people knew her from working at Catos in Winnsboro for 17 years. She also worked for Jenkinsville Water Company for many years. She was a life-long member of St. Barnabas Episcopal Church where she was very active and taught Sunday School.  She was a member of the Episcopal Church Women (ECW), a member of the Altar Guild and a licensed Lay Reader. She also handmade altar linens for the church and held different positions on the St. Barnabas Vestry. She was diligent in making the children’s choir robes and keeping them clean and pressed. There wasn't a child born in the neighborhood who she didn't love dearly. She was a very loving and kindhearted person always willing to help in any way she could. She will surely be missed by us all.

Her unforgettable memories will always remain in the hearts of her loving survivors: her sons, Robert (Janice) Boyd of Archibald, PA, and Albert (Mary) Boyd of Monroe, MI; daughters, Jacquelyn Boyd of Jenkinsville, SC and Doris (Bobby) Harrison of Winnsboro, SC; daughter-in-law, Karen Boyd of Crossville, TN; five grandchildren, Todnee Massey, Victoria Carter, Bobby Harrison, Jr., Arnold Boyd and Richard Harrison; eight great-grandchildren; three sisters-in-law, Mattie Mae Martin, Ernestine O'Neal and Mattie Lou Boyd: and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, friends and neighbors who will miss her very much.

In addition to her parents, husband, and siblings, Lois was also preceded in death by her sons, Herbert Boyd, Jr. and Arnold Edward Boyd; her granddaughter, Christie Lorene Boyd Jones and her grandson, Jeremy Micah Harrison.
