“To everything there is a season, and a time to every purpose under the heaven:   A time to be born, and a time to die; a time to plant, and a time to pluck up that which is planted;   A time to kill, and a time to heal; a time to break down, and a time to build up;   A time to weep, and a time to laugh; a time to mourn, and a time to dance;   A time to cast away stones, and a time to gather stones together; a time to embrace, and a time to refrain from embracing;   A time to get,  and a time to lose; a time to keep, and a time to cast away;   A time to rend, and a time to sew; a time to keep silence, and a time to speak;   A time to love, and a time to hate; a time of war, and a time of peace.” Ecclesiastes 3:1-8

Deacon Robert L. Wood, Jr. was born August 8, 1942 in Blaney, SC to the late Robert and Mary Bell Robinson Wood.  He was reared in the home by his grandmother (Mama), the late Mrs. Carrie M. Wood and his other mother, Alberta Wood Addison.

He was educated in the public schools of Kershaw County, graduating from Jackson High School in Camden, S. C.  He loved God, The Household of Faith Holiness Church and his family.

Deacon Wood exemplified what it meant to be a man of God, a man of morals, a man of compassion, a loving father, brother and friend. He was a Godly man who was obedient to the will of God. He was a man of honor, courage and strength, respect for himself and others. He proved that to be true when he faced his final battle here on earth, knowing that at the end he would be at peace with his Father.

Yes, we all loved him, but this was not his home. He is finally free and waiting for the Lord’s return and to hear Him say “Well-Done Thy Good and Faithful Servant!”

He leaves to cherish his memories, his mother, Alberta W. Addison; his children, Maurice and Lelia; brothers, Lawrence ‘Jack’ and Troy; sisters, Roberta, Loretta, Nellie, Yvonne and Priscilla; one aunt, Eloise W. Jones of New York, NY, grandchildren, The Household of Faith Holiness Church Family, a host of nieces, nephews and other loving relatives and dear friends.

He was predeceased by one sister, Carol A. Minick and one brother, Walter ‘Peter’ Addison.
