Funeral services will be held Saturday, March 24, 2012, 3:00 p.m. at Nelson's Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will in Cooper Chapel Church Cemetery, Watson Road, Elgin, South Carolina 29045l. The family will receive friends Friday, March 23, 2012, 6:00 - 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
Odell Harris, Jr. was born May 16, 1954 in Blaney, South Carolina to the late Mr. Odell Harris, Sr. and Mrs. Sara English Harris. After a severe injury, he departed this earthly life at Palmetto Health Richland Hospital in Columbia, South Carolina on March 18, 2012.
Odell attended the public schools of Kershaw County. He is a graduate of Lugoff-Elgin High School. He was a self-employed carpenter, painter, drywall and stucco finisher . Odell was an avid fisherman.
Odell was preceded in death by two brothers, Mr. Bobby English and Mr. William Carter; and one sister, Ms. Vastine Carter.
He leaves to cherish his memories forever his wife, Mrs. Deloris Dennis Harris, four sons, Mr. DeMarcus Odell (Sheila) Harris, Mr. Byron Nathan (Ashlay) Harris and Mr. Travis Leon (Eboni) Harris all of Rembert, South Carolina; and Hakeem Harris of Alabama; one daughter, Ms. LaWanda Nekeisha Harris (Cyjuan) Prioleau of Rembert, South Carolina; four step-children, Ms. Geneva Marie Davis, Ms. Thomasina Grooms, Ms. Florence Davis and Mr. Willie Davis; 16 grandchildren, 2 step-grandchildren and 1 step-great-granchild; one brother, his twin, Mr. Johnny Harris of Columbia, South Carolina; two uncles, Mr. Jessie L. Harris of Baltimore, Maryland and Mr. Raymond Harris of Newton, North Carolina; three aunts, Mrs. Irene Harris Stewart and Mrs. Ernestine Harris of Rockingham, North Carolina and Mrs. Adell Harris Bennett of Elgin, South Carolina; two great aunts, Mrs. Daisy Harris Portee of Ridgeway, South Carolina and Mrs. Eva Harris of Baltimore, Maryland; nine sister-in-laws, Mrs. Lonna Kate Dennis, Ms. Lottie Cabbagestalk, Mrs. Lillie (Dennis) Dennis McLaurin, Ms. Janie Dennis (Fred) Toney, Mrs. Rebecca Dennis (Abraham) Carolina, Ms. Patricia Dennis, Ms. Evien Dennis, Mrs. Gwendolyn Dennis (Steve) Porter and Ms. Ruby White Carter; two brother-in-laws, Mr. Freddie (Latasha) Dennis and Mr. Bobby Miller; two special friends, Mr. Kenny Green and Miss Keisha Prioleau; and a host of other relatives and friends.
