Letty Lee Obituary

The loss of a loved one is a heart- wrenching experience. It is with profound sadness that we, the management (Eddie &Jackie Nelson) and the support staff of Nelson's Funeral Home announce the passing of Mrs. Letty Parr Lee of Winnsboro, South Carolina.

Funeral Services will be held Wednesday., April 3, at 1:00 p.m. at Nelson’s Funeral Home Chapel, 270 North Dogwood Avenue, Ridgeway, SC 29130. A private interment will be held prior to the service.

Mrs. Letty Hughes Parr Lee, 96, passed away Thursday, March 28, 2024. She was born in Union, SC and she was the daughter of the late Letty Young Hughes Parr and Lucius Calhoun Parr. Upon her birth, her mother died, and she was taken in and reared by her paternal aunt and uncle Mary Ellen Parr Cherry and Samuel Cherry. Mrs. Cherry became Letty’s “Mama,” and Letty had a loving relationship with her father and later his wife, “Mother Nora.”

Mrs. Lee attended Everett School and graduated from Blackstock High School. She married the late John Lee in 1949 and had their only child, Rosalyn, in 1950.  Mrs. Lee retired in 1989 from Uniroyal after 44 years of hardworking, faithful service after which she helped care for her great-grandchildren. She was a dedicated member of First Church of the Nazarene in Winnsboro, SC where she loved her “church people” and enjoyed worshiping and celebrating with them.

Known as “Granny” and “Mimi,” Mrs. Lee was the pianist and Sunday school teacher for the Winnsboro Wesleyan Church for several decades. She loved the Lord first and relished her daily communion with Him. She was so proud of and cherished her family, of which there were five generations. “Miss Letty” was adored by her friends, church members, and acquaintances young and old.

Mrs. Lee is survived by daughter, Rosalyn Lee Pressley; granddaughter, Josianna Fitzsimmons (Mark) Rodgers; great-grandchildren, Amber Nicole (Anthony) Rauton, Jonathan Tyler (Shermaine) Watts, Annalee Grace Rodgers (Will Padgett), and Aiden Dale Rodgers; great-great-grandchildren, River Rauton, Pressley Rauton, Ava Watts, Londyn Watts, Amarrie Anderson, and Eric Anderson.  She is also survived by nephews, Norman Parr, Tyre Lee, Eddie Lee, and Bobby Lee.

Mrs. Lee was preceded in death by her husband, John C. Lee; granddaughter, Letitia Fitzsimmons; great-great-granddaughter, Leagrace Rose Rauton; son-in-law, James E. Pressley, and great-grandson, Bubba Cason.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Give Kids the World Village, 210 South Bass Road, Kissimee, Florida, 34746. GKTW is a nonprofit resort that hosts children with critical and terminal illnesses and their families for a week of relaxation and fun as respite from hospitals and doctors’ appointments. This is where Leagrace and her family spent a week and visited Disney World courtesy of the Make-a-Wish Foundation.

The family would like to express their appreciation to Generations of Batesburg and All Seasons Hospice Care for their unwavering love, care, and support of our matriarch.
