The Management and Support Staff of Nelson's Funeral Home announce the death of Mrs. Carrie L. Brown, 82, of Winnsboro, SC.  


Mrs. Brown transitioned into eternity peacefully on Wednesday morning, September 27, 2017, at her residence surrounded by her loving family.

Services were held Sunday, October 1, 2017, 2017, 3:00 p.m. at Nelson's  Funeral Home Chapel, Interment followed in Evergreen Cemetery, Winnsboro, South Carolina.

Mrs. Carrie Lou Brown was the daughter of the late Robert and Carrie Mozie Simmons.  She was born in Winnsboro, SC on January 11, 1935 and departed this earthly life at her residence on Wednesday, September 27, 2017.  She was married to the late George Brown, Sr. and to this union, four children were born.

Mrs. Brown was educated in the Public Schools of Fairfield County and she attended Zion Pilgrim Baptist Church for a number of years.   She loved the Lord and she loved gospel music.  Mrs. Brown loved being around her family.

Those left to cherish her memories are:  three children, Flossie (Clarence) Sampson, Vanessa Davis and Willie (LaWanda) Brown; 15 grandchildren, Tyrone Coleman, Shelton Brown, Shanna Brown, Shameika Brown, Clarence Sampson, Jr., Joseph Sampson, David Davis, Jr, Rodney Belton, Rhonda (Gerald) Armstrong, Renee (Tayvon) Myers, Erica (James) Eldridge, Carrie Brown and LeeAnn Brown; 33 great-grandchildren and seven great-great-grandchildren; one sister, Sara Ann (Marion) Harris; two special first cousins, Eddie West Mozie and Peggy Mozie Gratic; and a host of nieces, nephews and other loving relatives and friends.

In addition to her husband and her parents, Carrie was preceded in death by one son, George Brown, Jr.; two granddaughters, Cynthia Davis and Tanya Sampson; two sisters, Daisy Mae Bouknight and Earlean Simmons; and three brothers, James Simmons, Ulysses Simmons, Sr. and Willie Simmons.
