It is with profound sorrow that Eddie & Jackie Nelson, and the Support Staff of Nelson's Funeral Home  announce the death of Mr. David Walker, Jr., 73. 

A memorial service will be held for Mr. Walker on Friday, June 8, 2018, 1:00 p.m. at Nelson's Funeral Home, 270 N. Dogwood Ave., Ridgeway, SC.

Mr. David Walker, Jr. was born January 2, 1945 to the late Mr. Levi and Mrs. Isabell Walker-Belton.  He departed this life on Friday, May25, 2018 at the age of 73. 

As a child, he and his 17 brothers and sisters attended Macedonia Baptist Church where he was baptized at an early age.  He was educated in the Fairfield County Public Schools.   After graduating high school, David enlisted in the United States Army where he served as a medic for four years.   After he was discharged from the army, David made his home in New York where he worked for the Freeport School System for ten years.   After leaving the school system, he was employed with the Nassau County Department of Public Works for over twenty years.

Those left to cherish his memory are his daughter, Gwendolyn Marie Walker of Freeport, NY; two sons, Reginald Lee and Ronald Lee Walker of Freeport, NY and their mother, Shirley Jean Parks; special son, Dontae Jeremiah “DJ” Walker of Fayetteville, NC; one grandson, Ryan Spencer Parks;  ten brothers, Willie (Daisy) Walker and Aaron Belton both of Seattle, WA, Samson (Patricia) Belton, Ellis (Polly) Belton and Jerry (Mildred) Belton of Columbia, SC, Truman (Bobbie) Belton of Blythewood, SC, Larry (Martha) Belton and Levi Belton, Jr. of Killeen, TX, Rueben Belton  of Ridgeway, SC and Dennis Miller of Winnsboro, SC; seven sisters, Pearl (Olin) Kelly of Columbia, SC, Fanny Mae Belton and Mary Belton both of Ridgeway, SC, Maggie Lee (John) Lawhorn and Sheila Cannon of Blythewood, SC, Debra Belton of Gaston, SC and Mabel Belton of Hartford, CT.

In addition to his parents, David was preceded in death by two brothers, Thomas Walker and Arthur Belton.
