Is with profound sorrow that Eddie & Jackie Nelson sorrowfully announce the death of Mrs. Lueburn Cook Lawhorn, 70.
Mrs. Lawhorn transitioned into eternity Monday night at Providence Hospital Columbia, South Carolina.
Funeral Services for Mrs. Lawhorn will be held Sunday, November 18, 2018; 2:00 p.m. at Shady Grove A.M.E. Church Blythewood, South Carolina.
Interment will follow in the church cemetery.
Public Viewing will be held Saturday, November 17, 2018; 1:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m.
The Rev. Eric Ginyard will officiate the services.
Ms. Lueburn Cooke Lawhorn was born on March 5, 1948, in Blaney, South Carolina. She was the oldest daughter of Cole Cooke and Bernice McCants. She departed this earthly life quietly on Monday, November 12, 2018 at Providence Hospital in Columbia, SC.
Lueburn attended the public schools of Kershaw County. After graduating from high school, she worked at Craft Farrow Hospital. She was also with Diamant Boart and Risdon Qmist. She retired from the City of Columbia after 15 years. Lueburn was a member of Shady Grove A.M.E. Church where she served as president of Usher Board for many years and she served faithfully as the president of the Women Missionary Society and she was the church clerk for many years until her health failed.
Those left to cherish her fond memories are a loving son, Mark A. Lawhorn and a devoted daughter-in-law, Shonese Lawhorn; one grandchild, Mark Lawhorn, Jr.; one brother, Donald Cooke of Harlem, New York; four sisters, Patricia (Irreydell) White of Columbia, SC; Barbara Miles and Inda Huggins of Elgin, SC; Cynthia Cooke of Columbia, SC; four brothers-in-law; seven sisters-in-law; host of nieces and nephews and other loving relatives and friends who will surely miss her.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her paternal grandparents, Rev. Columbus and Lula Cooke; maternal grandparents, Arthur and Lottie McCants; five brothers, George Samuel, Calvin Cooke, Colie Cooke, William Cooke, and Wayne Cooke; one sister, Shirley Cooke.
