It is with sympathy that Eddie & Jackie Nelson and the Support Staff of Nelson's Funeral Home sadly announce the death of Mrs. Margie Pearce, 99, of West Columbia, South Carolina.
Mrs. Pearce transitioned into eternity Saturday, August 17, 2019 at her residence surrounded by her loving family.
Margie Moore Pearce, age 99, peacefully passed away Saturday, August 17, 2019. She was born on June 14, 1920. She was the daughter of Lena Summerlin Moore and Aaron Alexander Moore of Willacoochee.
Margie moved to Miami, Florida after graduating from Andrew College and the University of Georgia to work for Pan American Airlines. There she met and fell in love with Carl F. Pearce. The couple wed on January 20, 1944 and were married for 50 years when Carl passed away. Margie taught first grade at Miami Shores Elementary School for much of their married life. Upon their retirements, Margie and Carl returned to her childhood home.
Margie enjoyed attending church, sewing and making clothes for her family. She was a self-taught quilter and oil painter. She most delighted in collecting antiques.
Her four children survive her, Patricia Bolin (John) of Columbia, SC, Carl F. Pearce Jr. of Moultrie, GA, Pamela Pearce of Willacoochee, GA and Cynthia Benton of West Columbia, SC, 14 grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren and 4 Great-great grandchildren.
A Celebration of Life Memorial Service is planned for September 14, 2019 at the Willacoochee United Methodist Church. Internment in the Moore family plot at the City of Willacoochee Cemetery following the service.
