It is with our deepest sympathy that Eddie and Jackie Nelson and the Support Staff of Nelson’s Funeral Home, LLC announce the death of Mrs. Thelma Jackson Hudson, 93, of Lugoff, South Carolina.
Mrs. Hudson transition into eternity Sunday night, September 16,2018.
Funeral Services will be held Thursday, September 20, 2018, 11:00 a.m., at Rock Hill Baptist Church, 1060 Shivers Green Road Ridgeway, South Carolina. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.
The family will receive friends at the church one hour before the service.
Mrs. Hudson will be available for public viewing Wednesday, September 19, 2018 from 2:00 p.m. until 6:30 p.m.
In lieu of flowers the family is requesting donations to be made to the Alzheimers Association Inc.
Mrs. Thelma Jackson Hudson was born in Kershaw County to the late York Jackson and Amy Robertson Jackson Doby on May 11, 1925. She was the youngest of eight children. She entered into eternal rest on Sunday, September 16, 2018 at Karesh Longterm Care Center in Camden, South Carolina surrounded by her loving family.
She was a life-long member of the Rock Hill Baptist Church where, at an early age she joined and was baptized in a nearby creek as was the custom of her day. She was faithful in attendance until her health failed. She served diligently in many areas of her beloved church. She served on the Senior (Jubilee) Choir and was a choir leader. She sang with many other senior choir leaders who were deeply loved but have passed on. She was always available for guidance and served the youth and young adults by supporting the Usher Board Ministry, the Young Adult Association as well as the Sunbeam Choir. She also served on the Missionary Auxiliary for many years and served as an officer. She was a member of the Order of Eastern Star Longtown Chapter #190.
Those family members left to cherish her memories are her four children: a son, Bruce (Geraldine) Wood Sr; three daughters, W. Margaret Haynes of Lugoff, South Carolina; Portia T. Hawkins of Columbia, South Carolina, and Karen (Van) Belton of Ridgeway, South Carolina; seven grandchildren, Shawnta (Anthony) Davis of Columbia, SC; Derrick (Michelle) Wood of Lugoff, SC; Bruce Wood, Jr. of Lugoff, SC; Amy C. Taylor of Easley, SC; Adam Belton of Lugoff, SC; Larkin Belton of Columbia, SC and Alexis Hawkins of Columbia, SC; a special nephew, Eugene McCaskill of Chester, SC; many nieces, nephews and a host of relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by four brothers and three sisters.
