I miss that raspy contagious laugh and that unmistakable voice. Today was so hard. I kept playing video clips of you talking. It's so unreal..

I hadn't been the same since you've left me. Everyone seems to have moved on and yet I'm stuck in this holding pattern. I know everyone grieves differently and surely I thought I was stronger than this. I have to admit I'm weak and that part sucks. Hope one day I can channel your strength and begin to live again and better. Pop your missed and the hurt still feels fresh.

Hey Pop, The new year has rolled in and I feel like a huge part of me is still left in 2017. I am trying my best to keep it moving without feeling guilty about healing. 11/4/17.......

Hey Dad, The first Thanksgiving just passed without hearing your voice. I have been having the worst time not being able to call you or hearing your voice. You are so missed! There is so much time we missed and are missing out on. Roughly a month ago we spoke and little did I know that would be the last conversation we would have. I'm so glad that I was able to tell you that I loved you. My goal is to make you proud and to make the Huggins name greater. Pop I miss you ....this is breaking me ....I'm really trying to cope but find myself pretending daily that all is well. LORD HELP ME....

Pop, just letting you know I'm trying to be strong as you would have me. (At least in public anyway) This hurt is so new to me. They say time heals all wounds but I'm here say that's a lie.

Dear Family,
We are very sadden on learning of the loss of your loved one, Mr. Huggins. Death certainly is our enemy, as the Scriptures show. However, death will be eliminated from the earth. (Isaiah 25:8) Those asleep in death in God's memory will be awaken by means of a resurrection back to a peaceful earth to live forever. (John 5:25) In the meantime, may you continue to be comforted by kind deeds and thoughts from others, fond memories, and by promises from God's Word.

As a young man arriving at my first duty station 20 plus year ago I didn't really know what to expect. Huggins (us Army folks always use last names) took me and a few of my pals under his wings and made sure we were ok. He took us to church with him, invited us over to Sunday dinner, and he even took us shopping (we all know Walt was a sharp dresser in those days. After being stationed at Fort Jackson, he was the first familiar face I saw in the PX. Thank you for always being there! You will be truly missed.

My heart breaks because your hearts are broken. My prayer is you share the joy, love, and memories, you had with Walter. Share what he did to enrich your lives. Focus on the future the bible holds out for Walter at Revelations. 21:3 & 4, 1 Corinthians 15:26. I know the faith and love you have will help you endure.
My love to all of you.

Dad, I thank you for your counsel, your humor, your conversation and your love. You are missed and no words to explain how much have been created yet. Can't stop these tears even as I type this. I'm so grateful for the time together we were allowed. Could have used one more hug, hear one more raspy laugh, and go to one more football game. Those memories created will remain embedded in me . Can't wrap my mind around the idea that I won't be able to pick up the phone and call you again. I love you pop!
