The management Eddie & Jackie Nelson announce funeral arrangements for Mr. Celess Montgomery, 85, of South Windsor Ct. formerly of Ridgeway South Carolina.
Chuck’s family will receive friends and family on Monday, November 11, 2024, 2:00 p.m. at All Faith Memorial Chapel in South Windsor, CT.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, November 16, 2024, 1:00 p.m. at Nelson's Funeral Home Chapel. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.
Interment will follow at Good Hope Baptist Church Cemetery.
Mr. Celess “Chuck” Montgomery, 85, of South Windsor, CT, beloved husband to Gussie (Barber) Montgomery passed away peacefully on Sunday, November 3, 2024. Chuck was born on June 20, 1939, in Fairfield County, South Carolina to the late Elmer Montgomery and Ella (Bagley) Montgomery. He graduated from Fairfield High School. After 20+ years of service, Chuck retired from the State of Connecticut, Department of Education. He was a member of Messiah Lutheran Church in South Windsor, CT. He was an avid fisherman, he enjoyed watching Western movies, listening to music, and he loved baseball.
He leaves to mourn his passing a son Farry Neal of Hartford, CT; daughters, Allecia Sailor of Hartford, CT, Dr. LaShanda B. Harvey of South Windsor, CT, and Shirley Hanna of Columbia, SC; grandchildren, Brittney Barber of Ridgeway, SC, Christopher Hanna of Columbia, SC, Mackenzie Montgomery, Celess V. Simms and Cree V. Simms of South Windsor, CT; siblings Elmer (Carol) Montgomery of Hartford, CT and Michael (Bobbie Jean) Montgomery of East Hartford, CT; three sisters-in-law, Marie (Michael) Peay of Columbia, SC, Melissa (Maxie) Outen of Columbia, SC, Helen (Alphonso) Richard of Fairburn GA; four brothers-in-law, Norman (Cecilia) Barber of McCalla, AL, Robert (Vanessa) Barber of Aiken, SC, Thomas (Beatrice) Barber of Rock Hill, SC and Ernest (Doris) Barber of Ridgeway, SC; and aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews, a host of other relatives and friends including a devoted cousin, Leon Squirewell.
In addition to his parents, Chuck is predeceased by his son, Christopher Harvey Montgomery; siblings Lonzell Montgomery, Shirley Montgomery and Mary Ann Montgomery; and sister-in law Lillie Mae Jackson.
