The management (Eddie & Jackie Nelson) and the support staff of Nelson's Funeral Home announce the passing of Mrs. Dorothy Mae Carter, 85, of Ridgeway, South Carolina.  Mrs. Carter entered into eternal rest Thursday, August 7, 2025. 

Graveside memorial service will be held Wednesday, August 13, 2025, 11:00 a.m. at Aimwell Cemetery, 673 N. Coleman Street,  Ridgeway, South Carolina.

Mrs. Dorothy Carter was born in Winnsboro, South Carolina on January 20, 1940 to the late Lawrence “Happy Jack” Powell and Ida Powell.   She entered into eternal rest on Thursday, August 7, 2025.  Doris loved and enjoyed her family and friends and her many cats and kittens.

Those left to cherish her memory are her stepson, Dwight Stanley (Tersea) Carter and many loving nieces, nephews, in-laws and extended family and friends.

In addition to her parents, Doris was also preceded in death by her loving husband Stanley Dwight “Pete” Carter; two sisters, Mrs. Margie Stivers, and Mrs. Annette Kelly; and one brother, Mr. Lawrence Powell, Jr.

The family of Mrs. Carter would also like to extend their appreciation to the staff at Ridgeway Manor Healthcare Center for the excellent care she received.  We also want to thank Hospice Care of MUSC for their compassionate care of Mrs. Carter during her journey home.
