We are privileged to serve those who desire our services during their time of need. We take the safety and health of your family very seriously. We always strive to exceed the expectations for every family, and will continue to do so during these challenging days ahead. We want to ensure you; we are taking extra precautions in our facility by sanitizing it daily. We need your help, COVID-19 is sweeping the nation and requiring our immediate attention and adjustments in the way we manage our services. It is with broken hearts that the management Eddie & Jackie Nelson and the Support Staff of Nelson’s Funeral Home regretfully announce the passing of Mrs. Evelyn U. Henry, 90, of Winnsboro, South Carolina.
Evelyn Dolores Ulmer Henry, a life-time Presbyterian, wife of the late MSG (Ret). Taft Henry, and retired principal of McCrorey-Liston Elementary School reached out and took the Master’s Hand, on Sunday, April 17th at Lexington Medical Center.
A life-long educator and military spouse, she is survived by two daughters, Mevelyn Henry (William F.) Gaither of Irmo, SC and Jannette Henry (Charles W.) Davenport of Batesburg, SC; grandchildren; great-grandchildren; a sister, Anna U. Pearson of Phoenix, AZ; nieces, nephews and cousins.
Although the COVID-19 guidelines have been relaxed by the Center for Disease Control, and the State of South Carolina, the family has decided that for their safety, this service will be by invitation only.
Services will be held Saturday, April 23, 2022, 9:00 a.m., at Nelson's Funeral Home Chapel, temperature checks will be administered at the door by the Staff of Nelson’s Funeral Home. Masks will be required. The service will be live-streamed.
A public walk thru viewing will be held Friday, April 22, 2022, 4:00 p.m. until 5:00 p.m., only.
You may greet the funeral cortege when they arrive at the place of burial, which will be St. John A.M.E. Church (Middlesix Community).
The funeral will begin at 9:00 A.M. Committal and Burial will be at 10:30 A.M. in the St. John A.M.E. Church Cemetery.
