We are privileged to serve the those who desire our services during their time of need.  We take the safety and health of your family very seriously.  We always strive to exceed the expectations for every family, and will continue to do so during these challenging days ahead. We want to ensure you; we are taking extra precautions in our facility by sanitizing it daily. We need your help, COVID-19 is sweeping the nation and requiring our immediate attention and adjustments in the way we manage our services.  Please be considerate and help us as we try to keep our families, staff and facility safe.  

It is with deepest sympathy that Eddie & Jackie Nelson and the Support Staff of Nelson’s Funeral Home sadly announce the passing of Mr. Joseph F. Davis 82, of Ridgeway, South Carolina. 

Mr. Davis transitioned into eternity Thursday night May,14, 2020 at Providence Hospital Columbia, South Carolina.  

ATTENDANCE AT A FUNERAL OR ANY OTHER GATHERING IS A PRIVATE DECISION THAT INVOLVES A PERSONAL RISK. 

Graveside  Services will be held Monday, May 18, 2020, 11:00 a.m. at Mt. Pisgah Baptist Church Cemetery, 2100 Longtown Road Ridgeway, South Carolina. 

Rev. James Wilson will officiate.

Mr. Joseph Franklin “Snowball” Davis, Jr. was born in Ridgeway, SC on October 7, 1937 to the late Joseph and Ludda Durham Davis.   He departed from his earthly home to his heavenly home at Providence Health Hospital in Columbia, SC at 6:30 pm.

Joseph grew up in Ridgeway, SC and attended the Fairfield County Schools.   He was a hardworking man who loved laughter, his family, friends and the outdoors. He was very compassionate, had a sharp mind and was always sharing memories and history.

When his daughter Joanne would go to visit him, he would ask “Who with you?”   Meaning is Muggie with you?   He loved his baby.

Those left to cherish his memories are his children:  Alphonso (Gwendolyn) Davis of Ridgeway, SC, Joanne (Daniel) Broome of Columbia, SC, Dwayne (Charlene) Perry of Blythewood, SC, Alexander (Patricia) Davis of Winnsboro, SC, Ida (Hiawatha) McKenzie of Ridgeway, SC; a loving sister/friend, Geneva (Isiah) Burton of Ridgeway, SC, two brothers, Willie and Freddie Davis of Ridgeway, SC; ten beautiful grandchildren; nine lovely great-grandchildren; close friend, Mr. Boysie Ford; a host of nieces, nephews and friends that loved him and he loved them.

In addition to his parents, “Snowball” was preceded in death by four brothers, Tyrone Davis, Talmadge Davis, Napoleon Davis and Willie Thomas; and one sister, Johnnie Mae Brown.
