It is with deep sympathy that Eddie & Jackie Nelson and the Support Staff of Nelson's Funeral Home, LLC announce the death of Mr. Kenneth Stevenson, 54, of Columbia, South Carolina.
Mr. Stevenson departed his earthly life Friday night August 31, 2018; at his residence surrounded by his loving family.
Funeral Services will be held Friday, September 7, 2018 , 2:00 pm, at Mount Pilgrim Baptist Church, 9300 Farrow Road Columbia, South Carolina. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.
The Family will receive friends at the funeral home Thursday, September 6, 2018; 6:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m.
Rev. Rock E. Sims will officiate the services.
Kenneth Jerome Stevenson was born December 2, 1963 in Columbia, SC to Sarah B. Stevenson and the late Thomas Stevenson. He departed this earthly life on Friday, August 31, 2018 at his residence surrounded by his loving family.
Kenneth was educated in the Public Schools of Richland County School District #1 where he graduated from Keenan High School. After graduating from high school, Kenneth attended Charlotte Diesel Academy and earned a Certified Driver’s License. The Certified Driver’s License enabled him to operate 18-wheeler trucks. He was an owner/operator of Kenneth Stevenson, Inc. at the time of his passing.
At an early age, Kenneth joined Mt. Pilgrim Baptist Church where he continued to worship until his health began to decline. He was an active member of The Brotherhood Ministry. He enjoyed being outside, riding his motorcycle and was a diehard Pittsburgh Steeler’s fan.
In 1988, Kenneth married the love of his life, the former Jessie Dickerson and to this union, two children were born, Shayla and Jessica.
Those left to cherish his memory are his loving wife of 30 years, Jessie Dickerson Stevenson; two daughters, Shayla Marie Stevenson and Jessica Noel Stevenson; one grandchild, Aubrey Rae Stevenson; his mother, Sarah B. Stevenson; one brother, Anthony B. (Ann) Stevenson; six sisters-in-law, Vearma Abney, Barbara Frett, Bishop Cathy Goins, Evelyn Gordon, Sharon Nelson and Stacey Dickerson; three brothers-in-law, Everett Dickerson, Jr., Lesester Dickerson and Rodney Dickerson; and a host of nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and other loving relatives and friends.
In addition to his father, Kenneth was preceded in death by one brother, Douglas Stevenson and one sister, Thomasina Stevenson.
