Kevon Belton Obituary

The loss of a loved one is a heart wrenching experience, whether a death is sudden or expected, the loss is indescribable.  It is with heartfelt  sympathy that Eddie & Jackie Nelson and the Support Staff of Nelson's Funeral Home sadly announce the death of Mr. Kevon Martell Belton, 28, of Ridgeway, SC.  Mr. Belton departed his earthly life Saturday, December 1, 2018.

Funeral services for Mr. Belton will be held Saturday, December 8, 2018, 2:00 p.m., at St. Luke Baptist Church, 183 St. Luke Church Road, Winnsboro, SC 29180.   Interment will follow in the Bible Light Holiness Church #2 Cemetery in the Greenbrier Community.

Mr. Belton will be available for public viewing Friday, December 7, 2018 from 2:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m.

Mr. Kevon Martell Belton was born on October 18, 1990 in Columbia, South Carolina to Barry J. Belton and Mrs. Dorothy M. Boyd-Belton.  He departed this life on Sunday, December 2, 2018.

Kevon who was affectionally known as, “KeKe,” grew up in the Greenbrier Community and later moved to Ridgeway, SC.  He was educated in the Fairfield County School District.  He graduated from Fairfield Central High School and attended Universal Technical Institute (UTI) in Mooreville, NC to receive certification in Automotive Engineering.

He was a “die hard” Dallas Cowboy fan and he, Brandon and his father often invited family and friends to their home on game days.  Kevon was employed by Carolina Technical Fabric where he worked as an Operator.

Kevon was definitely a “people person”.  He made an impact on all of those who came in contact with him.  No one was a stranger.  His motto was “I must love, help, and give because God has given me.”

For those who met him, you knew that Kevon cherished the relationship with his parents and older brother Brandon.  Some of us often say because of a person’s last actions, they felt their death.  In this case, I must agree because Kevon spent the last hours with his parents and brother preaching to them about God and his promises, kissed and hugged his mom and told all of them how much he loved them before his departure.

On Sunday, December 2, 2018, God too wise to make a mistake, called him home to everlasting rest.  Kevon “KeKe” Belton leaves to cherish his loving memory his parents, Barry J. and Dorothy M. Belton; one brother, Brandon LaQuentin Belton; paternal grandparents, Joseph Floyd (Leatha) Belton, Sr.; maternal grandmother, Mattie Lou Cook Boyd;  two God-sisters, Amber Pearson Sims and Rachelle Washington White; twelve uncles; sixteen aunts; an honorary dad and mom, David and Sandra Carmichael, Ridgeway, SC; devoted childhood friends, Tyrone Bryant, Lonnie Thomas, Paul Rowe, DeMario Taylor, Lathario Taylor, Christopher Scott, Markus Tucker, Joseph Walker, and Fredrick Jacobs (childhood barber); and a host of other relatives and friends.

He also leaves to mourn a very special friend, Cagney M. Culbreth.  Kevon was a “Father Figure” to her three children, Kateland, Calisa and Kentrell Young. “KeKe” bonded and cherished the relationship with Cagney’s children as if they were his own.  He made sure they were present and involve with all the gathering of the Boyd-Belton’s family such as church, football, pageants, family cookouts, etc.  His love for this family was absolutely unconditional!!

He was preceded in death by his maternal grandfather, Mr. Linzy Boyd, Sr. and his uncle, Mr. Nathaniel Boyd.
