The loss of a loved one is a heart- wrenching experience. It is with profound sadness that we, the management (Eddie & Jackie Nelson) and the support staff of Nelson’s Funeral Home announce the passing of Mr. Michael Edward Hartin, 59, of Myrtle Beach, South Carolina.

Michael died peacefully at his residence with his companion by his side on Saturday, June 22, 2024.

Funeral services for Michael will be held Wednesday, July 3, 2024 at 11:00 am at Christ Central Ministries, 235 South Congress Street, Winnsboro, SC. Interment will follow in First Church of The Nazarene cemetery in Winnsboro, SC.

Michael was the son of the late John Edward, Jr. and Azalea Parker Hartin. Michael was an avid sportsman. He loved fishing, hunting, and hiking. He enjoyed peaceful walks along the sands of Myrtle Beach while watching the sun rise.

He was the father to John Hartin (Charlotte)  and stepdaughter, Jessica Smith. He was the proud grandfather of Tre Redd, Dan Trell Redd, Kandi Rose Redd, and Kalani Jackson.  Survivors include: Mary Ann Smith (longtime partner/companion and caretaker);   three sisters, Janet Stewart (Ralph), Brenda (Bobby), Mary Ann (Frank)’ two brothers, Nick (Jackie) and James; many nieces, great nieces, aunts, uncles, other relatives and friends.

In addition to his parents, Michael was preceded in death by his grandparents, John E., Sr. and Irene Legrand Hartin and Emanuel and Daisy Parker.
