ATTENDANCE AT A FUNERAL OR ANY OTHER GATHERING IS A PRIVIATE DECISION THAT INVOLVES A PERSONAL RISK.

It is with deepest sympathy that Eddie & Jackie Nelson and the Support Staff of Nelson’s Funeral Home sadly announce the passing of Mrs. Susie S. Cameron, 78, of Winnsboro, South Carolina.  Mrs. Cameron passed away Sunday, April 26, 2020 at her residence.

Susie was the daughter of the late Caughman and Ethel Smith.  Mrs. Cameron was entrepreneur of Cameron's Florist.

A memorial gathering will be held Tuesday, May  5, 2020, 11:00 a.m. at Longtown Presbyterian Church cemetery, 8010 Longtown Road Ridgeway, South Carolina 29130.

Susie Smith Cameron, 78, died peacefully Sunday, April 26, 2020 at her home in Winnsboro, SC.

Susie was born in Ridgeway, SC and she was the oldest daughter of Caughman and Ethel Smith. She was involved in many shenanigans with her sisters, Mary Lois Craft and Frances Smith Mattox (deceased). Susie enjoyed 35 years of marriage with Julius Cameron until his death in 2005. Their daughter, Joye Cameron, who is a miniature version of Susie, was living with and caring for her mother until her passing.

Susie owned, operated, and was best known for Cameron’s Flowers in Winnsboro. For many years, her flower arrangements brought beauty to our area and much joy to her heart. She later became the stern but fair Judge Cameron, a magistrate for Fairfield County.

If you were to look up “avid reader” in the dictionary, you would find her picture with a stack of books to read and another stack of books to pass along to friends or family. She enjoyed some good gossip, some good food, big laughs, and good company. Smart, funny, silly, and inquisitive, she will be sorely missed by us all.

Susie is survived by her daughter, Joye Cameron; one sister, Mary Lois Craft;  nieces, April Craft Spires, Ginger Mattox, Summer Mattox; her great-nieces, Hannah Spires and Maggie Spires.
