Ms. Betty Gibson was born on December 26, 1944 to the late Lewis and Lucinda McClurkin Gibson.   On Tuesday, February 15, 2017, she lost her battle with cancer and departed her earthly life at PruittHealth in Ridgeway, South Carolina.

At an early age, she joined Mt. Pisgah Baptist Church in Ridgeway, South Carolina.

Betty only had one biological child, but was like a mother to many.  She would always go above and beyond to help others in need, even if it meant going without.  Betty was very reliable and you could always call or depend on her for any and everything.

Betty graduated from Fairfield High School.  After graduation, she moved to New York where she worked as a caregiver and various other jobs.  While living in New York, Betty’s health began to decline so she moved back to Ridgeway.

Betty was a loving and devoted mother and friend.  Although she is no longer with us physically, her loving and kind spirit will forever live in the hearts and lives of all who loved and knew her.

She leaves to cherish fond memories, a son Wayne (Joyce) of Ridgeway, SC; three sisters, Esther Brown, Myrtle (Boysie) Ford of Ridgeway, SC and Burnell (Damon) Moore of Blythewood, SC; one brother, Lester (Henrietta) Gibson of Ridgeway, SC; a very special nephew, Montavius “Debo” Middleton; and a host of nieces, nephews, and other loving family and friends.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by three brothers, Harry, Toby and Donald Gibson; and two sisters, Doris and Mary Gibson.
