Pauline Jones

The Management and the Support Staff of Nelson's Funeral Home, LLC sadly announce the death of Mrs. Pauline Jones, 90, of 204 Irby Drive, Winnsboro, South Carolina.

Mrs. Jones died Thursday, September 10, 2015.   Funeral services will be held Wednesday, September 16, 2015, 3:00 p.m at Morris Creek Baptist Church, Winnsboro, South Carolina.  Interment will follow St. John Baptist Church Cemetery (Anderson Quarry Community) of Winnsboro, South Carolina.

Mrs. Pauline Irby “Sang” Jones was born April 29, 1925 to the late John and Sarah Davis Irby.   She departed this earthly life on September 10, 2015 at St. Job Hospital in Baltimore, Maryland.  On April 13, 1941, Pauline married E. J. Jones and to this union twelve children were born.

Pauline was the oldest of seven children and she was known for her cooking and baking.   She worked at Shootney Shack, Etta’s Restaurant and Vanier Plant for several years.

At an early age, she joined New Hope Church and then she later joined Fairview Church.   At the time of her passing, she was a member of St. John Baptist Church in Winnsboro, South Carolina.

She opened her heart and home to everyone.   After her daughter, Estelle passed; she cared for Estelle’s daughter, Ashley L. Jones in her home. 

She leaves to cherish fond memories four daughters, Bessie Huckaby of New Haven, Connecticut, Johnnie Pearson of Baltimore, Maryland, Catherine Brown of Connecticut and Sarah Whitener of Winnsboro, South Carolina; four sons, Alex (Diane) Jones, Jacob (Shirley) Jones both of Winnsboro, South Carolina, Ray (Teresa) Jones of Raleigh, North Carolina and Bobby (Eleanor) Jones of Jacksonville, North Carolina; her special granddaughter, Ashley L. Jones; 34 grandchildren; 54 great-grandchildren; eight great-great-grandchildren; two sisters, Patsy Pinkney of Winnsboro, South Carolina and Gertrude Seibles of Sacramento, California.

She preceded in death by four children, Stanley Jones, Estelle Boulware, Theodore Jones and Sylvia Furgan; four siblings, Marion Irby, Sr., Jacob Irby, Sr., Ora Lee (Gina) Irby and Waddell Irby.
