Terry Gripper

The Management and Support Staff of Nelson's Funeral Home, LLC sadly announce the death of Mr. Terry Gripper, 60, of Elgin, South Carolina. 

Mr. Gripper departed his earthly life on December 30, 2015 at his residence in Elgin, South Carolina. 

Funeral Services will be held Wednesday, January 6, 2016, 11:00 a.m. at Nelson's Funeral Home Chapel, 270 N. Dogwood Ave., Ridgeway, South Carolina.   Interment will be in Fort Jackson National Cemetery, Thursday, January 14, 2016, 10:00 a.m.   

Mr. Terry Lewis Gripper was born on April 23, 1955 in Elgin, South Carolina to the late Geneva Griffin Gripper and the late Robert James Nelson.  He departed this life peacefully to join his Heavenly Father on December 30, 2015.

He was educated in the Public Schools of Kershaw County.  During his life here on earth, he enlisted into the United States Air Force and Air National Guard Reserve.  He was employed with the United States Postal Service and was the CEO of Gripper Builders and LaViva Party Shop.

Terry was formerly married to Deborah L. Abney and to this union four children were born.

Those left to cherish his fond memories are his daughters, Hope Wood of Ohio, Terrika Gripper and Davita Gripper of Columbia, South Carolina; one brother, Thurmond (Martha) Gripper of South Carolina; three sisters, Jannie (Willie) Nash of North Carolina; Blanche Gripper of South Carolina and Joan Wood of New York; five grandchildren, Jarrell and Jade Barney of Ohio, Kyra Jones of South Carolina, Ethan ane Ean Gripper-Montague of South Carolina; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends who will miss him dearly.

Terry was preceded in death by his parents, Geneva Griffin Gripper and Robert James Nelson; two sons, Dameon Gripper and Ta'rik Gripper; and one brother, James Gripper.
