Clara Geiger

Funeral services for Ms. Clara Geiger will be held Tuesday, March 5, 2013, 1:00 p.m. at Nelson's Funeral Home Chapel.  Interment will be in the Lebanon Presbyterian Church Cemetery, Highway 21, Ridgeway, South Carolina.

Ms. Clara Geiger was born on February 3, 1925 in Ridgeway, South Carolina to loving parents, the late Charlie Sr. and Janice Singleton Geiger.  On Sunday, February 24, 2013, Clara’s earthly walk ended at the Brooklyn Hospital Center in Brooklyn, New York.  Now she is behind the clouds where the toils of life, heartache, and misunderstandings are all over; and she can rest in our Savior’s arms.

As a young woman, Ms. Geiger joined the Lebanon Presbyterian Church.  She served as the church musician until she relocated to Brooklyn, New York.  She was educated at the Presbyterian School in Ridgeway, South Carolina, and she graduated from Mather Academy Training School in Camden, South Carolina.  

Ms. Geiger had a strong love for children.  She worked for many years in the child-care profession, and she taught many children to play the piano.   Ms. Geiger also enjoyed knitting, crocheting, and quilting.  

Her memories will be fondly cherished by two children, Beverly Geiger and Grayling Geiger of Brooklyn, New York;  five grandchildren, Gary Watkins of Johnsonville, North Carolina, Elaine Geiger, Monique Geiger, Derrick Geiger and Dennis Geiger, all of Brooklyn, New York; three sisters-in-law, Mrs. Annie Long Geiger and Mrs. Carrie Johnson Geiger of Ridgeway, South Carolina, and Mrs. Margaret B. Geiger of Denver, Colorado; and a host of nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends.

Ms. Geiger was preceded in death by one daughter, Mrs. Deborah Valentine.
