Barbara (Ford) Richardson

The Management and Support Staff of Nelson's Funeral Home Sorrowful announce the death of Mrs. Barbara Ford Richardson, 63, of Columbia, South Carolina.

Mrs.  Richardson departed her earthly life Monday, June 20, 2016, at Palmetto Health Richland Hospital, Columbia, South Carolina. 

Funeral services will be held Friday, June 24, 2016, 11:00 a.m. at Lebanon Presbyterian Church (USA), 667 Hwy 21 S. Ridgeway, South Carolina.  Interment will follow in the church cemetery.  

The family will receive friends at the funeral home, 270 N. Dogwood Ave. Ridgeway, South Carolina 29130, Thursday, June 23, 2016, 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m.

Barbara Deloris Ford Richardson was born January 5, 1953 in Ridgeway, South Carolina to the late Dan “Son” Ford and Eleanor Shannon Ford.   She departed this earthly life on Monday, June 20, 2016 at Palmetto Health Richland Hospital in Columbia, SC.

Barbara attended the Public Schools off Fairfield County and she was a graduate of the Winnsboro High School Class of 1971.  After graduating from high school, Barbara was employed at Fairfield Manufacturer, Old Fairfield Day Care, Allied Chemical, HON Inc., Allied Department Store and Bert’s Grill.

At an early age, Barbara accepted Christ and became a faithful member of Lebanon Presbyterian Church (USA) in Ridgeway, SC.  While at Lebanon, she was a member of the choir. 

Barbara’s hobbies included cooking, baking, fishing, watching football, playing softball and decorating.   

She leaves to cherish her memory, her husband of 39 years, Tommy Lee Richardson; her son, Pervis Rasheen Richardson, who was her pride and joy.   She will be deeply missed by her three sisters, Ozelia F. (Sylvester) Tucker of Ridgeway, SC, Martha A. (Lawrence) Walker of Simpson, SC, and Doris D. Pearson of Ridgeway, SC; four brothers, John (Fannie) Ford, Daniel (Bridgett) Ford and Donald (Sharon) Ford all of Ridgeway, SC and Kenneth Ford of Hagerstown, Maryland; four sisters-in-law, Carrie (Harold) Murray, Lois (MacArthur) Robinson, Cynthia Richardson and Reverend Barzelle (Ernest) Manning; two brothers-in-law, Willie (Wanda) Richardson, Jr. and Alphonso Richardson; several aunts, uncles and a host of nieces, nephews and friends who loved her dearly.  

In addition to her parents, Barbara was preceded in death by one sister, Eleanor “Rabbit” Ford.   She will always be remembered as a lover of children and her infectious laugh will be sorely missed.
