The loss of a love one is a heart-wrenching experience; it is with profound sorrow that the Management and Support Staff of Nelson's Funeral Home, LLC sadly announce the death of Mr. Linder Durham Sr., 76, of Ridgeway, South Carolina. 

Mr.Durham departed his earthly life Thursday, January 19, 2017, at Providence Hospital in Columbia, South Carolina. 

Funeral Services will be held Tuesday, January 24, 2017, 1:00 p.m. at Nelson's Funeral Home Chapel, 270 N. Dogwood Ave.,  Ridgeway, South Carolina. 

Interment will follow in Bible Light Holiness Church Cemetery, Ridgeway, South Carolina.  

Public viewing will be held Monday, January 23, 2017, 2:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home. 

Mr. Linder Durham, Sr. was born on April 26, 1940 to the late Richard B. and Minnie C. Durham in Ridgeway, SC.  Mr. Durham was a loving husband to his wife of 54 years, Willie Mae Durham.  The couple was married on February 3, 1962 and five children were born to this union.

Mr. Durham attended Fairfield County Schools and he worked on his family’s farm in his early years.  He began his career at Southern Bell prior to operating his own pulpwood business.  After 27 years of service as a Heavy Equipment Operator, Mr. Durham retired from the South Carolina Department of Transportation. 

He spent countless hours engulfed in his hobby of being a mechanic.  A man of many trades, Mr. Durham was also an avid fisherman and gardener.  In his younger years, he was also a very spirited vocalist.

He leaves to cherish his memories his wife, Willie Mae Durham of the home; two sons, Linder Durham, Jr. of Ridgeway, SC and Kevin (Felicia) Durham of the Greenbrier Community of Winnsboro, SC; two daughters, Mrs. Diane (Allen) Buskey of Ridgeway, SC and Tonia M. Durham of Eastover, SC; one daughter-in-law, Eva Durham of Great Falls, SC; two brothers-in-law, Frank (Jannett) Myers of Curry, NC and David Jacobs of Columbia, SC; one sister-in-law, Claudell Durham of Shallotte, NC; nine grandchildren, fifteen great-grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews and other loving relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by one son, Richard Durham; three brothers, George Durham, Herman Durham and Daniel Durham; and two sisters, Lillie B. Durham Kennedy and Mamie Lee Jones.

His family will remember him as being a loving husband, father, and a devoted friend.  His memory will forever be cherished.
